TRIP to the TRACE

We recently had a great drive down through the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee.  We  first gathered at the Pinckneyville square and received our Ride Packets from Jeff and Donna.  They had previously made a scouting trip and laid out a very well planned excursion for us. From P'ville we  drove down to Paducah on two lane highways and then followed I-24 to KY 453 and the Land Between the Lakes. The road we traveled there is known as "The Trace". It is a scenic two lane, a perfect "Corvette Road".  We made several stops along the way  for info, gas and etc... seems everyone took advantage of the etc... The southern terminus of our wayfaring was Dover TN and Fort Donelson. There we viewed the civil war battlements and the Cumberland river that runs by.  We picked up on some American history here for sure.

Our itinerary then took us back to Paducah where we had reservations for dinner. Little did we know what we were getting into. There was a very large bar-b-cue party going on along the Ohio River waterfront and parking was a bear to say the least. We did enjoy a great meal among all the revelry and then retired to the Homewood Suites for a nightcap and great conversation. We found the accommodations very comfortable.

Next morning after a good breakfast at our hotel we checked out the aftermath of the big bar-b-cue bash down on the riverfront along with the neat murals on the levee walls. Some of those were actually being restored as we watched. The artists doing the work were obviously talented. As some of us drifted off back towards home others stayed and the ladies visited the The National Quilt Museum before heading back.

Thanks to a very well planned trip and great weather we all enjoyed another super Corvette Weekend!
