LATEST on The 2023 Version of Tux Hadler's Backroad   Boogie
Backroad   Boogie V
October 20th & 21st

Here are the plans for our upcoming Corvette drive thru the backroads of eastern Indiana at Tux Hadler's Backroad Boogie V.

Since there is a desire to avoid Indianapolis traffic, (especially at the time we will be passing thru there (or anytime)), here is the route we will follow:

Meet and depart from Yachts to Sea in Nashville, IL and head east on I-64, this will take us into Indiana.

I-64 to I-69 north of Evansville, IN where we will take I-69 north until we reach Indiana 44 at Martinsville, IN

At Martinsville we will head east on IN 44 towards Shelbyville, IN.

Just a jog thru Shelbyville and we will find I-74, taking a right turn here will lead us to Greensburg, IN and US 421

The Hampton Inn at Greensburg is off of US 421 to our right. (about 1/4 mile from I-74.

Here are some expected travel times & distances (times are cumulative)

Yachts to Sea to I-69 in Indiana:    1 hour 48 min                     114 miles

I-69 to Indiana State Road 44:       3 hours 38 min

IN 44 to Shelbyville, IN:                  4 hours 29 min

Shelbyville to Hampton Inn @ Greensburg:  4hours 52 min    292  miles

This equals about 5 hours of DRIVE TIME

+ 1 HOUR of TIME CHANGE

+ LUNCH BREAK

+ RESTROOM STOPS

HAMPTON INN CHECK-IN  3PM

FRIDAY EVENING CRUISE: Drive out at 5PM ---  https://www.facebook.com/events/1086826148576712

With ALL of this in mind, we have to count backwards for a departure time FROM Yachts to Sea I'm thinking 9 AM is the LATEST we should get away from there. My preference would be 8:30 . I know that's early but

I'm thinking of any unforeseen delays in our drive time.

Saturday Morning's Tour will start with a Drivers' Meeting @ 9 AM @ the Hampton Inn

ALSO, I have a note here that we will need to contact the Hampton "on the day of" the check in to try to get our rooms close together. I don't know if each couple needs to call or if they will accept the names of the folks in our group.

Address: 2075 N Michigan Ave, Greensburg, IN 47240

Phone(812) 663-5000

It may not hurt for everyone to double check their reservations anyway.

Any question you can contact Tux or myself....although I may not know the answer ...

See you  at Yachts to Sea Friday morning ...

WELCOME

Hello Corvette Friends!
Here's the latest plan for our July 28 -30th Hannibal/Grafton adventure. Our plan is to meet then depart from the Hucks ( nearby KFC has more parking space if we need that) in Caseyville, IL between 9 - 10 am (to be decided at July meeting), then take I-64 -> I-70 across the "Stan Span" (Tom taught me that) -> MO 79 near O'Fallon, MO (exit 220). On 79 we will proceed north to US 54 at Louisiana, MO then turn S.W. on US 54 to US 61, then north to Hannibal. We then turn right at Hwy MM/James Rd and then right again at St. Mary's Ave. This will put us on Bus. 36/ Broadway and take us to public parking at the river. Turning left at the east end of Broadway will lead us to more public parking and get us closer to midtown Hannibal. There are public restrooms near both parking areas. There is also another public lot nearby at the corner of N. Main & Bird St.
Here we're encouraged to "free range" Hannibal and enjoy some of the sites/attractions  including lunch at the diners/cafes etc. available (these experiences can be content for discussion during the "round table" time at the FairBridge Inn at Monroe City, MO.
Before heading west out US 36 to the FairBridge, we will gather for an evening meal ( around 6-7pm) at TBA (probably Fiddlesticks, where I will make reservations).  By then we should all be ready for some   r & r and refreshments at our motel. I'm told by management there that we will have room to gather...
After breakfast Saturday morning either at the FairBridge for their continental breakfast or a chosen spot, we will head south on US 24 a few miles to MO 107,  and on to Florida, MO. (turn left at hwy. U and 526) to visit Mark Twain's  birthplace.
From Florida we will head back and turn south at MO 107 to MO 154 where we turn back east, join US 54 and travel on in to Bowling Green and across the Mississippi at Louisiana, MO and on to IL 96 at Atlas, IL. Turning south on IL 96 we will proceed to IL 100 at Kampsville, IL and then south again to Hardin, IL. I understand there  are a couple of lunch venues at Hardin if the timing works out for us.
We will cross the Illinois river on the Joe Page lift bridge on IL 16/100 (The Great River Road) at Hardin and drive south to Pere Marquette Lodge to check in. We can have a quick meeting there and decide how we want to spend the rest of Saturday, be it venture into Grafton and find some music/entertainment, see some sites or crash and rest up for another "round table session in the Lodge.....
Sunday morning breakfast/brunch at Pere Marquette is usually very good so we recommend that but definitely feel free to  look about and opt for another location. For Sundays activities we can check out the music, visit what shops & wineries that are there. Feel free to go your own way here and just enjoy Grafton.
We can meet up again later for the drive towards home on The Great River Road  and stop at a suggested location for dinner...
Anyone should feel free to head out at anytime if they need or choose to.
Marilyn and I are looking forward to a GREAT TIME with You ALL starting July 28th. dc

Route 66 Adventure

On Monday, October 3, 2022 at 09:21:04 PM CDT, Jeffrey Rabenort <rabofnbo@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hello Everyone,

Route 66 Trip weekend is almost upon us, and I hope the weather is as nice as it has been these past few days!  We will make it a great trip either way, but wanted to give you an update.

We currently have seven cars looking to make the trip, so there is room for more if anyone knows of someone who would enjoy this trip.  We meet at the Caseyville Cracker Barrel at 7:30AM next Friday, Oct 14.  I will have route/stop books for everyone, and we will be meeting the Crain's along the way (I think it's exit 274, Dave?) on Interstate 44 and heading to Gray Summit.

We have hotel reservations for both Friday and Saturday nights, and if you have not called to give them your name under these reservations (under my name or the Corvette Club), you can do so.  Any unclaimed rooms will be released Oct 8.  We are staying at the GLo Best Western at Catoosa, OK (918-739-4100) on Friday and the Oasis Hotel and Conv. Center in Springfield Mo on Saturday (417-866-5253).

I will contact you with any new news, and I look forward to seeing everyone the morning of Oct 14.  Please let me know if you know of anyone else who would like to make the trip with us.  Going to be fun!       jeff

Route 66 Drive "A Trip Down Memory Lane"

Greetings Fellow KVCC Vetters!!!

I know it has been a bit since Donna and I have been able to make a meeting, but we are still kicking and working behind the scenes on a trip down memory lane -- Route 66!!  As mentioned, the trip will be held from Friday, October 14 to Sunday, October 16.

There have been several of you that have expressed interest in making this journey, and I want to share some details that I have so far.  I have a block of rooms reserved at two hotels for Friday and Saturday nights.  I have 15 rooms reserved, and this number can be adjusted up or down at each place.  Also, I don't feel that this needs to be an exclusive Vette trip (though Vettes are most awesome), so if you have a friend who might like to make this trip in a fun car, please let them know.

Friday night will be spent at the GLo Best Western in Tulsa-Catoosa, OK.  The Director of Sales, Mindy, is excited to have us and will have Route 66 "must sees" to share.  The room rate for this night will be $89 plus tax.

Saturday night will be spent at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, MO.  The room rate for that evening will be $96 plus tax.  Hotel rates are nuts like everything else, so I didn't feel these were too terrible.  Our drive Saturday wont be as long and on the way back, but I thought many would enjoy taking in the huge Bass Pro Shop in Springfield.  I am sure we will find other cool spots.

Sunday we will make our way back home.  I feel that we can travel as a group yet, but if anyone wants to break off and make other stops or stay overnight somewhere, you are welcome to do that.

What I would request is that if you have an interest in making this trip, please respond to me as soon as you can, and I will get you reservation information for these hotels.  This will also help me know how many rooms we will need.  We will be working on more details of the trip and getting those to you, but I wanted to get this out.  It's already July 1!!!

Speaking of that, everyone have a wonderful 4th of July Weekend, and God Bless America!!!!   (and America's sports car---Corvette!)       jeff

 LATEST TRIP INFO   for  The Overnight Run to Augusta, MO;
  Hi Everyone!

The club's trip to the Augusta wineries is only days away.  The Best Western in Washington, MO 636-390-8877 still has rooms available.

Jacob has sent the following itinerary for the weekend:

SATURDAY

Meet in Marissa in the Schneidewind Insurance lot at 9am and try to leave by 9:15

Lunch reservations for 11:30 at the Hawthorne Inn in  Labadie, MO

Here is the lunch menu - https://thehawthorneinn.net/lunch-menu/

From lunch we can check in at the Best Western and then off to the first winery.  Augusta offers a free shuttle that goes to all the wineries - pickup/dropoff every 30 minutes.  We can decide Saturday if we want to use shuttle service or drive and park our cars at each place.

Wineries with music include:

Montelle Winery - Mike Apirion Three - 12-4pm

Noboleis Vineyards - Mickey Scott - 12-4pm

Mount Pleasant Estates - Social Distraction - 1-4pm

Balducci Vineyards - Encore Band - 2-6pm

Augusta Winery - Nameless - 6-8pm

The two things to figure out would be dinner and when to finish the night. We could always head back to the hotel to end the night with the bottles of wine we purchase throughout the day!

SUNDAY:

Breakfast at Cowan's in Washington, MO

The drive up to Herman sounds amazing along highway94. The Copper Mule and Blackshire Distillery sound like great spots to see in that direction. We could possibly do that and still allow time for people to get back to Balducci Vineyards to see Dave Caputa Band from 1:30 - 5:30.  Obviously, people can come and go as they please - these are stops that have been suggested.

Looking forward to the weekend!

 TRIP INFO   for  The Overnight Run to Augusta, MO;

If they remain the same I will post hotel accommodations soon. likewise I have to confirm with one of our stops to maintain they are okay with us providing we all utilize COVID precautions such as masks during our visit. I will have some masks available for purchase during the event for those whom may not have them"

So we're still waiting....
