Meeting was held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Mascoutah Steakhouse in Mascoutah. Thanks to Dennis Schneider for the recommendation….sorry he could not be there :-( - There were 26 members in attendance. Welcome back to Tim & Linda Boyce! - Minutes from the April 2024 meeting were approved. - Treasurer’s Report - Current checkbook balance is $1,682.88. Treasurer’s Report was approved. Anyone who still owes for 2024 Dues can pay Diane via cash or check at the next meeting ($25 per car). We will take recommendations at the June meeting regarding options for where to donate this year’s KVCC donation. Bring your recommendations in June! - Annual St Jude Drive - Al Varel and Donna Rabenort gave great reports regarding recent St. Jude Corvette Drive to Memphis TN. On May 16, A total of 112 Corvettes left from 5 locations (Peoria IL, Bourbonnaise IL, St. Louis MO, Nashville TN, Louisville KY) and all met in Dyersburg TN where everyone spent the night. In the morning on May 17, all 112 Corvettes departed Dyersburg and drove in a 2-mile long caravan to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis TN. The Corvettes were welcomed on the St. Jude campus by nurses, doctors, patients, researchers & workers who lined the street holding signs, waving and cheering. It was quite a sight to behold! St. Jude is funded only by donations. Cancer patients and their families do not incur any costs for treatment. As of May 17, a total of $510,000.00 was collected and donated by this year’s Corvette Drive group and a check was presented to St. Jude at a gathering in a campus meeting room. A wonderful young research doctor (Dr. Beth) gave a wonderful speech (she’s from northern Illinois!) Donations will continue to be accepted through June 30. If you have never done this drive, you are highly encouraged to do it! The next St. Jude Drive is May 15-16, 2025….Mark your calendar! - National Corvette Caravan - August 29-31, 2024. There is some interest in attending. See more information at https://www.corvettecaravan.com - Kaskaskia Cahokia Trail - Jeff & Donna are making arrangements for this day trip on Sept 7. Will discuss more details at future meetings. All are welcome to participate! - Funfest - One day only September 21. See https:www.corvettefunfest.com - Tux’s Back Roads Boogie VI - October 18-19, 2024. Some members are planning to do this trip to Indiana. There is a Friday night ride and a longer ride on Saturday. See Tux Hadler Facebook event page get more info or talk to Tom & Sharon Luebbers and Aldi & Janet Hood for tips on what to expect as they have done this ride before and are planning to attend again. No entry fee. Make your own hotel reservations at the Hampton Inn in Greenville Indiana and just show up for a fun time! - Kentucky Bourbon Trail - There is some interest for a fall trip. Anyone want to organize? - Route 66 Trip through New Douglas/Litchfield - Tabled until next year - Upcoming events: - Annual St. Damian Church Picnic, Sat July 13. All-you-can-eat meal starts at 3:30pm, served in A/C hall. Includes, home-made noodles, sauerbraten, fried chicken, dessert and all the trimmings. Mass 4pm. Hand-made quilt bingo, raffle, cold drinks and more! Contact Al for info. - Okawville Beach Blast, Sat July 20, at the OCYA Ballpark. Contact Jeff & Donna for info. - Okawville Wheat Festival September 13-15. Car show date is Sept 14 with a 9am start.
